In a strange turn of events,
24 Year-old Madison Cawthorne (R) defeated Lynda Bennett (R) in a Republican primary runoff in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District to replace the previously seated Mark Meadows (R.)
This has surprised many, partially due to his age but more so due to Lynda Bennett’s endorsement by President Trump earlier this year. Along with Trump’s endorsement, the previously seated Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, and Ted Cruz had also endorsed Lynda Bennett.
Madison Cawthorne beat Bennett by nearly two-thirds of the vote.
Here’s is Bennett being endorsed by Trump:
Please let this serve as my Complete and Total Endorsement of a great fighter and ally in North Carolina, @LyndaBennettNC. She is strong on Crime, Borders, Military, our Great Vets & 2A. She will be a great help to me in DC. EARLY VOTING STARTS TODAY. We need Lynda Bennett! #NC11— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 4, 2020
Here’s Madison’s campaign video.
