In a violent display of mob mentality, State Senator Tim Carpenter (D-Wis.) was beaten by a mob of protesters last night while trying to take a picture.
Senator Tim Carpenter stopped to take a video (seen below) of protesters last night. The protesters were gathering in response to a black man being arrested earlier yesterday who entered a coffee shop with a baseball bat and a megaphone.
The protesters saw Sen. Carpenter and started yelling “reporter.” Carpenter is approached, and you see a moment of the protesters saying something along the lines of “no video” before it cuts out. The second picture below is the Senator lying on the ground after being attacked, the third is him outside his car.
I took this pic- it got me assaulted & beat up. Punched/kicked in the head, neck, ribs. Maybe concussion, socked in left eye is little blurry, sore neck & ribs. 8-10 people attacked me. Innocent people are going to get killed. Capitol locked- stuck in office.Stop violence nowPlz! pic.twitter.com/Zw2hdfYG66— Tim Carpenter (@TimCarpenterMKE) June 24, 2020
The protesters then went on to smash lights and windows at the state Capitol building and lit fires at the Dane County Jail. They were chanting for the release of the man who had been arrested earlier.
