American singer, songwriter and producer, Frankie Beverly never publicly disclosed any details about his health issues or illness, except for the throat problems at the peak of his career.
The legendary singer formed his band, Maze, in 1970 and earned recognition for his soulful music as the band’s writer, producer, and lead singer.
Moreover, fans loved Frankie for his unique vocals and his charismatic stage performance and style.
Tragically, the former Maze lead singer has passed away at the age of 77 on September 10, 2024 leaving behind a lasting legacy in the music industry.

Frankie Disclosed That He Took Care Of His Health And Did Not Have Any Cancerous Illness
Born on December 6, 1946, Frankie Beverly‘s real name is Howard Beverly and has been a prominent singer in the industry who started as a gospel singer.
However, on September 12, 2024, the singer’s family announced his demise with an official statement saying:
He lived his life with pure soul as one would say, and, for us, no one did it better. He lived for his music, family and friends.
During the peak years of his singing career, Frankie never confessed to having a health problem or any issues with his health.
In an interview with Black Doctor, the Maze lead singer shared that he however had a throat problem from his singing saying:
I’ve never had any cancer or anything like that. I’ve had some throat problems, but as an artist, it happens.
Further, Frankie disclosed that the throat problem might have been due to his singing, and he had trained his voice to manage it.
Additionally, the producer confirmed that he had never been diagnosed with any kind of cancerous diseases.
The Maze singer further claimed how he prioritized his health by eating right, working out and staying healthy saying:
We work so much, being hoarse comes with the territory, but my voice is trained to deal with it. Also I try to eat right, and workout, but most importantly I try to live right.
Although it is not specified that his throat problems contributed to his demise, it is possible that they might have played a role, as he only ever discussed this particular health condition.
